From a MAC Horror story to a Paul & Joe fairytale <3
Hello anyone!
This is my first blog/review...
Today, I got Paul & Joe stuff..
Well before that I want to tell a sad story... it's my fallout with Mac and my new found love - Paul & Joe.. hehe
It's a love story...
So I was roaming around Rustan's awhile ago... I had a mission - get a peachy, nude lip gloss...
So, assuming that Mac has a wiiiiiiiiiiiide variety of colours in their Lip Glass collection... I went straight in... (only to be disappointed... not only because they didn't have the Hello Kitty collection yet!)
The SA was occupied with another client so I guess it was understandable that she left me alone to try the stuff I wanted...I tried on Lip Glass in Prrr... I liked it... however... I wanted to look at some other brands before making the decision...
So I went to Paul & Joe just coz I've been wanting to try out their stuff... and I'm pretty much intrigued with the Disney Face Color 002 (the pink Meteorites looking thingamajig with the skunk drawn on the packaging)
BUT! I was on a mission... getting the exact lip gloss colour that I wanted.... Peachy Nude... So I went straight to the glosses... I had to take out the Prrr I had on... so I got attracted to 08 and 04... I really liked 08 because the 04 looked a bit too sheer... so it would really defeat the purpose if I bought it.. So I went ahead and asked for 08 which was a shade that reminded me of Milk Tea. :P and the horror begins... They didn't have 08!
So I went and made my decision to just get Prrr instead.. even if it was a tad sticky for my liking compared to Paul & Joe's glosses which felt really slick on my lips (yummy scents too!) So I went back to the snobby Mac SA... so I was thinking she'd be nicer to me this time because she was not entertaining anyone anymore... BUT NO! I guess she really didn't like me... So I just wanted to get it over with... I asked for Prrr... IT'S NOT IN STOCK!!!!!!!!!! I can't believe my luck...
MAC Horror#1 - SA from hell
MAC Horror#2 - Super sticky lip gloss
MAC Horror#3 - the only thing I wanted... was... out.. of.. stock!
GRR!!! I was aimlessly going around the makeup counters.. I went to Kanebo... They didn't have the Lunasol Lip glosses... Coffret D'Or only had 2 shades.. (I LOVE KANEBO!... but I'm quite put off by their lack of choice... in the Coffret D'Or glosses) anyhoo... to make this uber long story short... I went back to Paul & Joe.. then the rest is history... I'm In LOOOOOOOOOOOVE!
So.. I bought 3 things... but.. this includes a GWP uber cute clutch... well I had a choice ... tough to choose among super great looking bags... but I eventually picked the clutch...
1. Paul & Joe Lipstick 06 - PhP1,175.00 = around $24
Pros
- love the packaging.. I think it's adorable, classy, glamorous and demure at the same time... The iridiscent peach packaging is definitely eye candy... even the shape that the lipstick itself is formed into... seems similar to a Chanel lipstick :P
- the colour is great... it's a very, very pretty pink beige.. with very tiny and fine sparkles that's not very visible.. unless you really look at it closeup
- the texture is very creamy.. colour is buildable... adds a considerable amount of sheen when you put it on your lips
Cons (this is hard!)
- I guess the fact that it's buildable colour... It's not as pigmented on the first application...
- price... I guess it's a little on the expensive side considering Mac lipsticks are just around PhP900.00 or roughly $18. But what do we expect? Most Japanese makeup are higher priced than Mac.. (because they have better quality IMO.. HAHA! I'm such a hater today! O_o)
2. Paul & Joe Lip Gloss 01 - PhP1,075.00 = about $23
Pros
- again... I am in love with the packaging! The signature floral design embellished all over the tube.. It's so pretty pretty!!! - It felt so light on the lips!!! Unlike Mac's Lip Glass which is super duper sticky... This one just glides on... perfect!
- the shade is super sparkly sheer champagne... I guess that's how I'll describe the colour... I won't swatch it because I'm not very good at taking colour swatches.. hehe
- the scent is subtle and yummy!
- the applicator is a brush.. instead of a sponge tip! I don't think this day can get any better!!! HAHA!
Cons
- basically.. the brush thing... Upon my first usage it felt hecka hard.. like it's not a brush at all... however, the geek in me stalked this lipgloss on their website... THANK YOU! They have a disclaimer there saying that the brush will be hard at first so it must be softened by gently bending it on a piece of tissue.. or something... i just tried and softened it at the opening of the tube now it's fine ^^
- I also felt it was a little too sheer... Like I couldn't differentiate the shade between this one and the totally clear lip gloss that they had... (I still love it though)
3. Paul & Joe Disney Face Color B 002 - PhP1,800.00 or $37
Pros
- I love the packaging... It's so retro... I love oldie styles and this one's got that down pat.. :P
- I love the colour... basically I chose this shade because I don't have a lot of Pinks in my blushes... I have like 4 different blushes.. and they're all THE SAME COLOUR - peach/orange! The colour is a nice pink that's not overly shimmery but will add a subtle glow to your face...
- I'd say this blush is pigmented as well.. Just a few dabs with the super soft puff that comes with it will already give you a flush that would last for hours... I've tried using it with a brush and with the puff... the puff will provide you more... the brush diffuses the colour just a bit... :)
- compared to Guerlain Meteorites.. This thing has more colour payoff at half the price... wheeee!
Cons
- the only thing I don't like about this blush is the scent. I'm not really into my base makeup and blushes having scents.. This one.. I'd say it has the kind of scent that will make a pregnant woman hurl... It's not bad... just a bit strong... >,<
That's it for the makeup... and now the free stuff...!
the pretty clutch I chose that came for free...
here's a more upclose at the pretty detail not shown on the above pic because I took a pic of it upside down... O_o
Please do visit Paul & Joe's website for more details about the stuff ^^
Til next time! <3
